A False Start
By: Anonymous

What makes a father a dad?
Do my tears make me look sad?
I have a mother who loves me,
but that’s the most that I’ve had.

There’s a big hole in my soul.
I can’t let it to go.
You were supposed to be my father,
but you didn’t bother,
I’ll never be whole.

Why’d you run?;
to have fun?;
to use a gun?
I’m your son,
not the one to shun.

Why did you have me,
why was I born,
if you knew from day one that you’d be long gone?

You gave me a false start.
You said you’d be my father,
but instead you broke my heart.
